War of the Dinobots

Plot Summary:

When a meteor rich in energy crashes to Earth, Optimus Prime sends the Dinobots to guard it, and keep it safe from Megatron. Pleased with the Dinobots performance, he orders Ratchet and Wheeljack to build two more. While the Dinobots are guarding the meteor, Megatron approaches them , and tricks them into working for him so that he may obtain the meteor, and have them destroy Optimus Prime. However, at the last moment, Grimlock turns on Megatron, and saves the Autobots.

Best Dialogue:

Megatron: "There is an instability in the energon cubes."
Starscream: (sarcastic) "You picked a wonderful time to notice it." (The cubes explode.)

Watch For...

Zooming in, we can see Sparkplug reading something titled Out Line Plan DESGE that probably should have read Outline Plan & Design.

Starscream is thrice colored as Thundercracker.

Thank goodness that meteor crashed in an already trashed section of the city, huh? ^_~

Autobot sample retrieval techniques leave a lot to be desired. "Oh, you need a piece of the highly unstable space-rock? Here, I'll shoot one off for you."

While it might be difficult to tell from the above paragraphs, I actually really like this episode. It's one of my favorites from first season, largely because it gives the Dinobots (especially Grimlock) so much exposure and characterization. One of the things that spoiled season three for me as a child was the fact that they made the Dinobots so dumb, basically playing to the stereotype of big and stupid. I liked the Dinobots, and after the Movie they just weren't the same.
